Digital Dentures

Thanks to technological advancements, digital dentures are the newest, and most convenient, way of making dentures. Instead of taking multiple types of impressions of a patient’s mouth, a digital scan is taken instead. We then sent this scan to the computer where a sample denture is 3D printed for you to wear home and test out. You don’t need to have impressions, trays, and more impressions made in order to determine your mouth and teeth shape. If changes need to be made to the size, shape, or position of the teeth, we print a new set of digital dentures. When you’re completely satisfied with the fit and function, we mill the final set of your new digital dentures.

Benefits of Digital Dentures

  • No need for multiple impressions or trays
  • Uniform thickness that’s lighter and thinner than conventional dentures
  • More precise fit
  • Stronger than traditional acrylic dentures
  • Fewer appointments (conventional dentures average 4-6 appointments, digital dentures average 3-4 appointments)
  • Easy replacement – even without an in-person visit

One of the greatest benefits of digital dentures is that if you lose or damage your digital dentures, we have the scan used to create your dentures on file and can fabricate a new set for you without you needing to come in. Even if you’re out of town, we can have a new replacement set of digital dentures sent to you. As long as you are still happy with the fit, we can continue using the same scan to mill any replacement digital dentures for you.

Should you need to have any existing teeth extracted, and a denture made to replace the extracted teeth, we will create a new scan that resembles your existing teeth so no one will notice the difference.

Digital Dentures vs Traditional Dentures

The scanning process is more accurate than the traditional method of using impressions. While impressions can be very accurate, there is always the chance of slight shifting when the impressions are being made, or during the manual processing of traditional dentures. We eliminate these possibilities with digital dentures. This means there are fewer adjustments that need to be made to ensure the proper fit and function and a pleasing aesthetic. This is a huge timesaver, especially if the need arises for replacement dentures. The fact that digital dentures are much stronger than traditional dentures also reduces the need for replacement because of breakage.
