Lower suction dentures

Lower Suction Dentures

Is it possible to have secure lower dentures without adhesive or implants? Yes!

We’re excited to provide our patients with lower dentures that are manufactured using an amazing technique developed in Japan by Dr. Jiro Abe. He is a Prosthodontist who extensively experimented with different techniques and materials. These experiments led him to create the enhanced suction ability of lower dentures. This is obtained by using a new impression technique that will establish the proper fit and shape of the lower denture so that it works with your muscles and mouth movements.

Lower suction dentures create a tighter seal than traditional acrylic dentures and won’t come loose while eating or speaking. The seal created is similar to the seal in a complete upper denture. The material and fabrication method differs from traditional dentures as well.

How is it different?

There are different materials and different processes for creating the impressions used to manufacture lower suction dentures. High-definition material is used during impressions to capture cheek and tongue muscles, and a lower-distortion acrylic allows for a more precise fit. Special finishing techniques, such as contouring and shaping not only give a secure fit, but also a very realistic look to the dentures. One of the best benefits is the fact that lower suction dentures do not lift or float, so they don’t allow food to get underneath, and the chance of them slipping is eliminated.

Who will this work for?

A high percentage of patients will benefit from lower suction dentures. We can screen patients who are struggling with loose dentures to see if this option is suitable. If you’ve had recent extractions, you’ll likely need about a year of healing time because of the change in soft tissues along your jawbone during the healing process. The best way to assess whether this is the right denture type for you is to come in for a free consultation.
