There will be an acclimation period when you first get your dentures. You will need to begin by eating small pieces of soft food and chewing on both sides of your mouth to apply even pressure to the dentures. During the adjustment period, avoiding sticky and very hard and crunchy foods (including gum) is recommended. 

Once you have adjusted to your partial dentures, eating will become more enjoyable and easier because you will no longer have to avoid chewing in the areas with missing teeth. You will chew with all of your teeth, including your partial dentures.
